Where Do We Get Our Furniture?

One of the questions we get asked most often is, "Where do you get all of your furniture?"

The short answer? Everywhere!

We never know where the next great piece will come from, so we're always keeping our eyes open. Here are some of the places we find the furniture that eventually makes its way into our workshop.

We watch Facebook Marketplace.

Facebook Marketplace is one of the first places we look for furniture that's being sold or offered up for free. Because refinishing furniture takes a significant amount of time, not to mention the cost of materials, we're careful about what we spend on a piece. After all, this is a business, and we need to make a profit while still offering quality furniture at a fair price.

We rescue furniture that others have given up on.

We've picked up pieces sitting at the end of a driveway with a FREE sign on them. We've brought home horribly painted furniture, dressers with broken drawers, and pieces that have been covered in permanent marker and stickers (thanks, kids!).

It takes time, patience, and a lot of hard work, but we know there's often beauty hiding underneath. We'll share more about what we look for, and what makes us pass on a piece, in our next blog post.

We gladly accept furniture donations.

We're fortunate that many people have trusted us with furniture they no longer have room for or simply don't have a use for anymore. In fact, many of our donations come from people who have inherited furniture from parents or grandparents. While it may not fit their style, it's often incredibly well made. These pieces may show decades of wear, but that's exactly what we love. With a little (and sometimes a lot!) of TLC, Tony can bring them back to life so they can be enjoyed for many more years.

We also shop thrift stores and online auctions.

Every once in a while, we'll come across a hidden gem at a thrift store or find the perfect project through an online auction. We never know where that next amazing piece will turn up, which is part of the fun of what we do.

Now we'd love to hear from you!

Where did you find your favorite piece of furniture? Was it a family heirloom, a thrift store treasure, a garage sale bargain, Facebook Marketplace, or maybe even sitting at the end of someone's driveway? Tell us your story in the comments, we'd love to hear it!

we have a wonderful little wooden table that we got many years ago from our neighbor who was getting rid of it!

I love it! Just like they say, one person's trash is another person's treasure, and in this case you now have a special connection to your neighbor, too!
